Corrective Shoes For Foot Pain Relief

Find relief from foot pain with corrective shoes from KURU—built with your foot health in mind.

Foot pain can hamper your daily productivity. Whether you’re cleaning the house, running or playing with your children, going hiking, commuting to work, or simply exercising, you’ll need corrective shoes to reduce the pain and take care of your feet. This is especially the case if you have deformities or foot injuries and you experience numbness or neuropathy.

Whether you need bunion correction shoes, flat foot correction shoes, anatomically correct shoes, or various types and styles of corrective shoes, KURU’s collection of corrective shoes is designed to alleviate foot pain and keep your foot safe, comfortable, and well-supported.

What are Corrective Shoes?

Corrective shoes refer to footwear recommended for you to wear if you have chronic foot pain, injuries, deformities, and health conditions such as diabetes that make you more susceptible to foot problems.

Depending on your needs and the recommendation of your podiatrist, you may have to wear corrective shoes for bunions, posture correcting shoes, shoes to correct pronation, shoes to correct supination, or flat foot correction shoes.

While each corrective shoe varies, some of their similarities include having smooth interior construction and more padding. There’s also more space allotted for orthotic devices and insoles.

Dress In Style With Corrective Shoes

Explore how to wear the latest styles of corrective shoes from KURU.

Whether you’re wearing corrective shoes for bunions, posture correcting shoes, or flat foot correction shoes, you can never go wrong with a monochromatic look. For instance, pair KURU’s black corrective shoes with your favorite comfortable black tee and black cropped pants. With neutral tones such as tan, white, and black, you can easily pull off this monochromatic look. You can also go for shades of light blue or emerald for a more creative look.

Flaunt your feet with bright and colorful corrective shoes while wearing a neutral-toned outfit to add a bit of excitement and character. Complete the look with some sassy red lipstick. You can also expose a little bit of your ankle (if the weather permits) with a hidden sock for a fresh and modern look.

You can choose to wear your top-quality corrective shoes with a blazer and a pair of jeans, too, or a vibrant-colored pantsuit for more formal occasions. Whether you choose to sport a casual, chic, or semi-formal look, comfort and style should go hand in hand.

Shoe Care Tips

Simplify the process of finding a pair of corrective shoes that fit well with these helpful tips from our KURU GURUs.

Here are some tips to let you find the best anatomically correct shoes, bunion corrector shoes, posture correcting shoes, and more:

  • Get both feet measured at least once or twice per year. Over time, the size and shape of your feet change. This means that one foot may be a bit longer or wider than the other. Thus, fit the largest foot first.
  • Remember that shoe sizes aren’t standard. Every brand has different sizes and styles. Therefore, it’s not about the size shown inside the shoe but how the corrective shoe fits your foot.
  • Stand and walk around in the corrective shoes. This will let you know whether they’re comfortable enough and fit well.
  • Have your feet measured when they’re at their largest, which is in the afternoon.
  • Choose corrective shoes that are shaped like your feet.
  • Ensure at least a finger-width space between the end of the shoe and your longest toe.
  • Wear the right socks as its thickness also has a huge impact on the fit of the corrective shoes.

FAQs

  • What are corrective shoes for?

Corrective shoes are meant to address different foot problems, including pronation, supination, bunions, flat feet, and foot pain. They provide sufficient stability, support, cushioning, and comfort to prevent the progression of various foot problems and maintain your foot health.

  • How is the arch support of KURU shoes?

KURU shoes deliver excellent arch support without the need for thick inserts or expensive, custom orthotics.

Superior arch support starts with our patented KURUSOLE technology, which delivers natural cushioning and dynamically hugs your heel with every step. Every foot is unique, and our ULTIMATE INSOLES adapt to fit your needs by using your own body heat to custom-mold to the shape of your feet over time.

The corrective nature of our superior arch support is designed to neutralize your weight distribution and place your foot in the best anatomical position. This support can take some getting used to. We suggest slowly breaking in your new shoes over the course of 2–3 weeks.

  • Can I use custom orthotics with KURU shoes?

Due to the anatomical shape of the KURUSOLE, custom orthotics with a rounded heel fit best inside our shoes. If the underside of the custom orthotic (the part that sits on the footbed) is squared off, then it may not fit into our deep heel cup—which is rounded like your foot.

That said, many of our customers tell us the KURUSOLE technology offers better support and stability than they expected, and that they don’t need to wear their custom orthotics with KURU shoes.

  • I just received a pair of your shoes and my feet are sore/hurt after wearing them. Why is that?

Some customers experience tenderness when they first start wearing a new pair of KURUs. That’s ok! Your body may need time to adjust to the new levels of anatomical support you experience with our patented KURUSOLE technology. Our shoes are also designed to mold to your unique foot shape, which takes a bit of a break-in period.

To help mitigate this, we suggest you follow our break-in procedure, including wearing your KURUs for a couple hours per day around the house in the first couple of weeks as they break in and form to your foot.

  • Can shoes really correct bunions?

Various brands like KURU offer shoes to correct bunions. These types of footwear offer enough width and softness to accommodate bunions. Moreover, our specialized technology adapts to the shape of your feet, offering natural and maximum cushioning and support. It’s best to consult your doctor or podiatrist too, so you can wear the right shoes to correct bunions and keep your feet comfortable.

Features of Corrective Shoes & Finding the Best Fit

Here’s what to look for when searching for the best corrective shoes for you.

Foot correction shoes are designed to manage various foot problems. For instance, if you have bunions, choose bunion correcting shoes as they’re built wider to address these foot problems. Pick shoes made of leather, canvas, and other stretchy materials. Corrective shoes with straps or laces also help accommodate changes in your feet’s size and bunion.

A higher toe box helps avoid too much pressure on hammertoes too. The corrective shoes should be able to stop the deformity from getting worse, stabilize the deformity, and alleviate pain.

If you have fallen arches, you’ll need corrective shoes that offer extra support through their built-up arch. Then, if you have overpronated feet, you’ll need shoes to correct pronation. These should have enough stability and support. Then, if you have to wear shoes to correct supination, choose footwear with plenty of cushioning, like KURU.

Meanwhile, corrective shoes for those with diabetes should help manage pressure as this can cause skin breakdown and ulcers. Moreover, if you have this health condition, you need foot correction shoes that limit joint motion to stabilize your feet and ease inflammation.

To get the right fit for your feet, try on foot correction shoes in the afternoon or evening as your feet have already expanded during these hours. Also, wear the style of socks that you know you’ll usually use when wearing these pairs of corrective shoes.

Three Layers of Support

At KURU, we pride ourselves on our unique approach to shoe design. We believe that shoes should be shaped to fit the natural contours of your feet, which is why we create every pair in three distinct support layers, not just an insole.

Our revolutionary ergonomic design starts with a curved footbed and adds unparalleled triple-layer support that includes shock-absorbing KURUCLOUD, heel-cupping KURUSOLE, and arch-supporting ULTIMATE INSOLES. The result? Shoes that are so comfortable you’ll stop thinking about your feet.

Best Shoes. I first bought these shoes about 6 years ago. I presently own 5 pairs of Quantums and plan to order more. I used to suffer from plantar fasciitis and these shoes corrected the problem. I am very active and can wear them for any physical activity. They are well made and hold up very well. It took about two days to get used to the initial fit, but afterwards they felt great. I highly recommend them!

Really does reduce pain! I’ve only had these shoes for little over a week, and I’ve out about 40 miles on them on my morning walks. At first I wasn’t impressed, in fact my ankles hurt more, my knee (torn meniscus) and legs hurt more. I was worried. But then I realized that it was because the shoes were correcting my gait. I was using muscles I hasn’t used in years. If course they were going to hurt. It settled out, and now I can actually run for a short stint in them. Thanks Kuru! Great product.

Comfortable and versatile. These shoes are comfortable and have the same great posture-correcting aspect as other Kurus. Only problem with them is that the are so comfortable and easy to walk in that I have started wearing them to stores, to play music with other people, etc. — pretty much anywhere that doesn’t require athletic movements. So I may look a little weird, but my feet are happy! Great shoes! I did need a half-size larger than the Quantums or Chicanes.

Great shoes. I’ve worn scketchers work shoes for the last 15 years and started supinating causing me to have outside foot pain. At first I didn’t think these helped I had too wear them for several hours a day to get used to them. I can now wear them all day at work they are correcting my stance so I no longer have outside foot pain. Thank you Kuru I will be back for more.
