If you’re thinking about going on a winter adventure, you’ll need good shoes for snow that can support you through harsh conditions. Luckily, KURU Footwear offers shoes for snow that offer the perfect balance between protection and functionality.

You’ll also be delighted to know that we don’t carry big clunky boots and sneakers—we designed each shoe to wrap snuggly around your feet while looking stylish and on point.

What are Snow Shoes?

When it comes to footwear for snowy conditions, it is essential to have a pair of shoes that can keep your feet warm, dry, and provide good traction on slippery surfaces. Snow boots and shoes are the perfect footwear for snowy conditions, as they are designed with features such as waterproofing, insulation, and sturdy soles with traction-enhancing technologies.

Shoes for snow typically feature waterproof materials such as Gore-Tex or treated leather, which help to keep your feet dry and protected from wet snow and slush. They also come with insulation materials like Thinsulate, which helps to keep your feet warm and cozy, even in extremely cold temperatures. Some boots and shoes also feature removable liners, allowing you to customize the level of insulation depending on the weather conditions.

The soles are designed to provide excellent traction on slippery surfaces, with features such as rubber outsoles and deep lugs that grip onto the snow and ice. Some shoes also feature crampons or spikes on the sole for extra traction on icy surfaces. Additionally, snow boots and shoes often have a higher cut than regular shoes, providing added support and protection from deep snow. With the right pair of snow shoes or boots, you can enjoy all of your favorite winter activities without worrying about cold, wet, or slippery feet.

FAQs

  • What are the best shoes for snow and ice?

Many shoes can offer increased traction, warmth, and weather resistance when around snow and ice. If you’re looking to have an adventure out in the cold, a pair of boots or sneakers that can provide comfort is the best option for you. Make sure that your shoes will keep your feet stable and pain-free to ensure that you get the most out of your experience.

  • Are hiking shoes good for snow?

If you plan to hike in the snow for long distances, you’ll need to consider buying a pair of shoes that can provide comfort. While most people will opt for snow boots, that are heavy, bulky, and unbreathable, you may want to look into hiking shoes. Once you use them, you’ll see that hiking shoes are a lot more compact, lightweight, and breathable during your journey.

  • How is the arch support of KURU shoes?

KURU shoes deliver excellent arch support without the need for thick inserts or expensive, custom orthotics.

Superior arch support starts with our patented KURUSOLE technology, which delivers natural cushioning and dynamically hugs your heel with every step. Every foot is unique, and our ULTIMATE INSOLES adapt to fit your needs by using your own body heat to custom-mold to the shape of your feet over time.

The corrective nature of our superior arch support is designed to neutralize your weight distribution and place your foot in the best anatomical position. This support can take some getting used to. We suggest slowly breaking in your new shoes over the course of 2–3 weeks.

  • I just received a pair of your shoes and my feet are sore/hurt after wearing them. Why is that?

Some customers experience tenderness when they first start wearing a new pair of KURUs. That’s ok! Your body may need time to adjust to the new levels of anatomical support you experience with our patented KURUSOLE technology. Our shoes are also designed to mold to your unique foot shape, which takes a bit of a break-in period.

To help mitigate this, we suggest you follow our break-in procedure, including wearing your KURUs for a couple hours per day around the house in the first couple of weeks as they break in and form to your foot.

  • How do I know which shoes to buy? Which is best for me?

The best shoe for you will depend on your unique foot type and the style you’re looking for.

The best shoes for men and women alike offer adequate arch support and cushion. KURU’s line of pain-relieving footwear help alleviate foot pain symptoms for all-day comfort.

  • Can I use custom orthotics with KURU shoes?

Due to the anatomical shape of the KURUSOLE, custom orthotics with a rounded heel fit best inside our shoes. If the underside of the custom orthotic (the part that sits on the footbed) is squared off, then it may not fit into our deep heel cup—which is rounded like your foot.

That said, many of our customers tell us the KURUSOLE technology offers better support and stability than they expected, and that they don’t need to wear their custom orthotics with KURU shoes.

Three Layers of Support

At KURU, we pride ourselves on our unique approach to shoe design. We believe that shoes should be shaped to fit the natural contours of your feet, which is why we create every pair in three distinct support layers, not just an insole.

Our revolutionary ergonomic design starts with a curved footbed and adds unparalleled triple-layer support that includes shock-absorbing KURUCLOUD, heel-cupping KURUSOLE, and arch-supporting ULTIMATE INSOLES. The result? Shoes that are so comfortable you’ll stop thinking about your feet.

  • How KURU brings relief

    KURUSOLE

Our patented KURUSOLE plate can reduce foot pain, redirect stress, and encourage a healthy gait. It features a unique design that cups the heel and allows for dynamic flexion with each step to help protect and preserve the heel’s fat pad. As a result, it guides your body to a more natural alignment, which allows for personalized comfort like nothing else.

Super hiker. I have been wearing this hiking several times a week for two years now. They don’t slip in snow or mud, they keep my feet dry and warm in winter but are fine in summer- great ankle support but also light. These are the boots to hike away in!

TRAILMIX

New England Winter Survivors. I bought these shoes at the beginning of the winter for morning walks with a group of friends. We walked neighborhood streets here in New England every day, through snow and rain and ice and road salt. The Chicanes did the job every day. Much more rugged than I thought they’d be and warm and dry. Comfortable from day one. Great shoes.

No Worries! These ‘boots’ are great, both for getting through a bit of snow going to work and for their comfort. As they say, you do need to break them in before wearing them for a full 8-hour shift, but that’s easy. I have both heel pain and plantar fasciitis, and both pair of Kurus I have work very well for that. I also have edema in my lower legs and I was concerned the boot top might be too tall and press into my leg — Not to worry! The leather is soft enough and the elastic gives enough that I have no problem. The loop in back is perfect for pulling the boots on, too. Thanks again, Kuru!

Puddlejumper

Comfy shoes took my pain away!! its been more than 6 months that i bought these , I have plantar fasciitis and these help a lot , I’m not gonna lie the design is kind of ugly lol but if does the work , it keeps my feet warm on the winter even with snow but most important my feet doesn’t hurt anymore !! I’m definitely buying another pair I highly recommend it !!

Happy Customer

Second Pair. I bought this shoe about a month ago and I find they hug my foot in place, pretty good traction in the snow on on ice. Happy I purchased them.
